Our Field of Dreams Missions base is busy with short-term missions teams, AND God is moving mightily in Uganda!
Pinelake Church along with other team members have been enjoying their time serving with SMI. In just FIVE DAYS, we’ve seen 33 SALVATIONS!
We also returned to MARKET MINISTRY for the first time in TWO YEARS (we were forced to stop because of covid.)
Here’s a look into last week at Show Mercy:
ANOTHER WATER WELL OFFICIALLY OPENED UP IN UGANDA!
Community Leaders of Sserinya held a celebration for the official opening of ANOTHER clean water well! It was a joyous time of giving thanks to God for providing access to clean water. Our SMI team were invited to share and when we did...God showed up.
We took this moment to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Three people said YES and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We can't wait to see how God reveals himself more and more to these people. It was such a beautiful, exciting day!!!
MORE HEARTS TO LOVE KIDDOS AT THE HOT LUNCH PROGRAM
Did you know every Tuesday, we gather children from the village to eat a hot nutritious lunch?
How do we identify the children? During the covid lockdowns, we found many children who were malnourished, isolated from the gospel of Jesus and had never attended school. Those are the children we picked for this program, and it's been a joy to love on them!
Pinelake Church members (and others) LOVED spending time with these kiddos. The kids don't speak English, but that doesn't stop our visitors. Who doesn't love to have their face painted or to run around laughing and playing tag? Although they couldn’t always communicate with words, love and joy was evident through their actions! We know LOVE never fails. These kids are reminded weekly that Jesus loves them and so do we.
WE HEADED OUT TO VISIT THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS
We love visiting the elementary and high schools in Uganda. They welcomed SMI with open arms, which means we get to inspire different children each week.
All the children LOVE to worship and dance. It's a joy to be able to freely share about Jesus with the students. The youth are always intrigued to hear personal life stories from the visiting teams. You just don't know who's life will be impacted when you share your journey of life. WE'VE heard countless testimonies from those in high school who saw God show up in tangible ways after team members prayed with them. It's exciting to see this next generation of world changers so hungry for more of God.
FINALLY!!! MARKET MINISTRY AFTER TWO YEARS
The Wakiso Market is down the road from Field of Dreams. For years, we've visited this market to purchase our produce as well as build friendships. We've enjoyed sharing the Love of Jesus for YEARS. That all stopped when covid caused lock downs.
BUT FINALLY, this week, we were able to return! Many of the same people we’ve built relationship with were still there and they were SO happy to see us! Many new people were also there.
The market is a winding maze of different vendors. So the team split up into groups and began sharing the gospel, loving on the vendors and praying together. Over 10 people gave their lives to Jesus. We can't wait to visit them again next week.
THE ELDERLY ARE IMPORTANT
The team loved on many of the elderly in our community this week! They served Jajja Margaret in practical ways by helping her around the house, cleaning and sweeping - something that is challenging for an aged aching body. We love visiting these precious people.
BIRTHING CENTER
We hosted new mothers at the birthing center for baby checkups and a time of education. Part of the Pinelake team helped weigh babies and write the latest newborn’s names on the wall!
PRAYER OVER LAND
There is a lot of exciting construction going on at FOD! The team spent time thanking God for the plans he has for the new facilities.
We are saying goodbye to 1 team and hello to another!
It was an incredible week with this Pinelake team and our new friend Nathan! God moved in many powerful ways. We were sad to see them leave, but we are confident they will continue to live on purpose wherever they go.
Another team from Pinelake has just arrived along with a new intern - Emerson. Keep an eye out for more updates.
